A Devotional:

A Series

Observing people’s natural habits, routines, and ritualistic behaviors within the spaces they take place allows us to see a person’s individuality. These once simple spaces housing once simple activities become a place of dedication and purpose. Because of this, the act becomes sacred. Observing unique devotions within sacred spaces around us allows us to make personal connections with the rituals of others.

As individuals, we seek connections. When we observe the habitual practices of others, we often unknowingly find ourselves attempting to relate. The simplicity of the hand in performing a practice allows us to see ourselves, and ultimately see our own devotion in the form of another. This ordinary object allows for us to relate to the individual and their practice, while still showing the individuality behind the person.
